Biomechanics

What is a Biomechanical Assessment?

Biomechanics

Biomechanics is the application of mechanical principles on living organisms. Podiatric biomechanics is the study of forces acting on the human body, its structure and function with particular reference to the lower limb, the foot and related pathologies. Podiatrists are trained to identify foot and lower limb faults, which may lead to pain or deformity within the body. Orthoses (special insoles), strapping and exercises are prescribed to improve one's alignment. If you have lower back, knee, ankle or foot pain, then it is likely that it is caused by problems with your gait (the way you walk and run). I can determine whether your gait or poor foot function is causing the problem and will then advise and treat you accordingly.
